Amble Cottage

We go to the Lake District every year with our 2 Retrievers but decided this year to try and stay in Ambleside as our best walks always started there! After alot of research we found Amble Cottage. The cottage was lovely, neat, clean with essential cleaning products and plenty of other kitchen utensils ( loved the hoover etc as I like to clean up as I go ) Bathroom on 2nd floor but if you're there on a 6 holiday the steps will stretch your legs..Parking and carpark permits brilliant as our car didnt move for first 3 days as our planned walks were from Ambleside, when we did venture out to Windermere the carpark permit was for the exact places we wanted!!! Could ramble on but we will be booking this place again and would recommend

The cottage was beautiful and had everything you need. It is also perfectly located for travelling around but with lots of local shops within walking distance. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others

A fantastic house in a great location. Well stocked kitchen, lovely bedrooms and a cosy living room. Central to Ambleside but incredibly quiet in the evenings. Great for us with 2 kids and a dog. Appreciated the use of the local parking permits (one for use in the road around the house, one for around Ambleside, Kendall, etc). Thank you for having us, we would love to visit again!

Really lovely, homely cottage with lots of beautiful decor and attention to detail. Comfortable and well-equipped. Great location with easy access to shops, restaurants and loads of spectacular walks in Ambleside and the surrounding area.

Really enjoyed our stay, comfy beds and sofas were a must after long days walking. Central location but quiet. Easy to find and the parking permit was a massive help.

The cottage was lovely and clean, and in a great location. There were plenty of basics supplied like milk, tea bags and loo roll to get you started. There was even a bottle of Prosecco; unfortunately my wife is expecting so I had to drink it all!

I have stayed in amble cottage many times and always felt at home great location always clean and comfortable me and my dog always love staying there many thanks already booked a return trip thanks again.

This property is in an excellent location a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. Having both an on street parking permit, and a car park permit which can be used in all of South Lakeland was very useful. The property was very clean on arrival with a good selection of cups, bowls and things in the kitchen. The TV has Freesat so there were a lot more channels than you get on Freeview in the area, and the sofas were comfy. All of the beds used were very comfy, with wardrobe storage in all bedrooms. On the negative side, the bathroom being on the top floor was a bit of a drag, especially as it was pushing 30C the week we stayed. The electric shower had a tiny and hard to direct shower head, and this was the first shower curtain I've seen in years. Unfortunately,. unlike the rest of the house, the shower curtain had gone orange at the buttom with mould. The second bedroom has two single beds, which although comfortable, are pushed right against the wall so when someone turned over in them, there hand was stuck in the air against the wall. Overall we also found it a little cramped for 3 people with full luggage. Still a decent place to stay, especially for the price, but a few things could be addressed.

We have had the most wonderful week in Ambleside for me to relive my childhood holidays. Cottage is beautifully furnished & decorated. Perfect location for the rest of the Lakes and the most excellent value for money given Easter holidays. Milk and Prosecco on arrival most welcome! Cottage wasn’t as clean as I would have expected but on emailing agent agent I was responded to within hours…I suggested more pegs needed for washing line and someone brought a bag round the next day! What an excellent service! I would thoroughly recommend and we will re book for next year, thank you!

We stayed here from the 6th to 10th Feb. We come to the lakes quite frequently and the location for this place was perfect. It was very quick and easy to get to and from places, especially if you’re hiking or fancied a walk to a restaurant. The place itself was lovely, very clean and perfect for my partner, dog and I. The only thing I’d say is those who are wanting to book it and have mobility issues then just be aware as the bathroom is on the 3rd floor. I felt like I was going on a hike just to the bathroom haha. The stairs are quite steep, and the bathroom isn’t as modern as the rest of the house - It is also advertised that there is a log burner, but you’re not allowed to use it - it took a while to heat the house up! Having said that, I would give the place a solid 9.5/10! Definitely will be returning.

Nice little cottage in the heart of Ambleside. The location could not have been better. The two parking permits provided took the hassle out of parking. Really peaceful location and yet five minutes walk to all the amenities of Ambleside. Loads of nice pubs and shops and a coop within five minutes walk. Nice walks, especially if bringing your four legged friend. The waterfalls were a short stroll away and there’s a nice dog friendly park within ten minutes too. Comfy beds and a nice touch of a complimentary bottle of fizz on arrival.

September 23rd once again a lovely hoilday in amble cottage I have stayed here many times and it never disappoints I have already booked for next year me and buddy the dog love the walks on the doorstep many thanks

Wonderful house - everything you need for an enjoyable stay in the Lakes. Extremely convenient location (1 minute from central shops and restaurants).

Lovely clean cottage in great location with free easy parking outside (permits supplied) lots of places to visit all close by with great walks, we had a great time with fantastic weather, would recommend Amble cottage.

Had a great week in Amble Cottage. Great location near the centre of Ambleside for exploring the town and surrounding area. It's fitted out to a high standard with everything you would need. Plenty of space for 4 people. The 3rd bedroom is a good feature so my sons didn't have to share and had more space.Thoroughly recommend this property.

This is my 4th stay in this lovely cottage I always fine it very clean and comfortable and new touches every time I go , it's a great location walks on the doorstep for me and my dog many thanks

Lovely cottage in a great location in Ambleside

I thoroughly recommend Amble Cottage. The house had everything we needed, has a warm & cosy feel and great equipment and some nice books to get into the Lake District spirit. The location is excellent for hikes and exploring Ambleside and the surrounding area. We did the Fairfield Horseshoe starting right from the cottage. A special shout out dinner recommendation for other travellers is “Lucy’s on a plate”. What a great place.

The cottage was perfect and had everything we needed. Very cosy and very clean. Location was amazing with plenty of parking on the street or the car parks nearby. Communication was great, all our questions and requests were answered in a very timely manner. Would definitely recommend the cottage to everyone coming to Lake District.

Just returned from staying at Amble cottage for a week. Ideal quiet location but just steps from the restaurants and shops and of course the many walks which start from town. Bed very comfortable. Amble Cottage is very well cared for, presented beautifully and was also well stocked and cleaned to a high standard. We can’t wait to come back.

We had a wonderful 15 night stay at Amble Cottage. It is beautifully furnished and has a lot of personal touches which are a delight. The cottage has everything you need and it is in a quiet location whilst still being in the heart of Ambleside! We had the best nights sleep ever as the beds are so comfortable! We are looking forward to returning!

October 15th this is the second time I have stayed in amble cottage this year and have stayed in it last year once again its home from home always clean and tidy plenty to do on the door step walks with buddy and good pubs and a great bus service will be back again next year thanks christine and buddy

What an incredible place!! If you’re looking for a cosy cottage with a great location this is the place. We loved the log fire, garden area and the location! Great to walk into Ambleside for dinner, and close to all of the walks. Amazing stay in Ambleside and will be returning! Thank you!

A fantastic cosy cottage in the heart of Ambleside with local amenities all within walking distance. Extremely comfortable especially if like us you have a wet and windy week but still want to get out walking, Amble cottage is the perfect place to warm up. We will be using Lakeland retreats again!

We had a great stay at Amble Cottage, the cottage was clearly freshly cleaned on arrival and well presented, the quality of decor, cooking pans/utensils etc was excellent and I would certainly recommend the property to anyone looking to explore Ambleside the the surrounding hills, lakes and valleys.

The owners were responsive to any queries and the cottage was super clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return.

The perfect cottage in the heart of Ambleside. Close to all local shops restaurants and supermarkets and walks. The cottage itself was home away from home with all the extra little bits added on. We loved the place and will most definitely be back again.

This is a lovely cottage - great size and extremely clean. The outside area actually is slightly bigger than photographed - you can sit 4 people around the outside table. The rooms are good sizes and it is full of character. It is a perfect location as it is 2 min walk to shops/restaurants/pubs in Ambleside and there is so much to do and see in the local area - it was our first time to the Lakes and it was gorgeous. 2 parking permits are provided, one for the street closest to the cottage and one for other car park nearby and in other towns - extremely helpful! Would definitely recommend staying and would go again in a heartbeat!
